The fourth day was another enjoyable day of spelunking. The cave we explored is called Mercer Caverns in Calaveras County California. In this cave there was a mineral, very rare when it is untouched. It is called an aragonite crystal.
Mercer Caverns had many more cool natural formations caused by erosion. Here are some items my class saw on the fourth day:
Curtains:
Stalagmites and stalactites:
Fins:
After our Mercer Caverns tour we went to a nearby river for a picnic and some play time.
And that is how we ended our fourth day of the Treasures of California Field Trip!
