Treasures of California, a Nine Day Field Trip (Day One)

Have you been on a  field trip before? Then imagine a field trip stretched over the period of 9 days! On the first day we packed our luggage into the “caravan of cars” as my teacher called it. The class boarded the cars and went on an exciting road trip jam packed with learning and fun! Off to see the “Treasures of California”!

Our first destination was Red Rock Canyon! There we learned about erosion and sediments. Because my class had been traveling in a car for what seemed like forever, we finally had some time to run around!

My teacher very much encouraged us to draw what we found in nature, therefore, we found a shady spot to draw what we saw around us, here are some of the landforms we saw:

Some kids wanted to get a better view of the land surrounding us, so we ascended the “squirrel scramble” as I call it.

As we ascended the face of  the looming rock I could faintly hear something in the wind, it sounded like my teacher! I listened very closely and realized that it was time to go and finish our long, adventurous, first day by having lessons in my teachers room at the hotel. By That is how we ended the first day of an awesome nine day field trip.
