If you are ever in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, here are a few cool places to go:
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It’s where the US dollar with the FW text on it is made. For you photographers out there who are reading this, you are not allowed to take pictures inside. You should expect a large two story viewing area where you can watch and take a guided audio tour around the printing room. There is also a large museum with a bit about the history of the dollar along withe the security features and watermarks on any bill of higher value. There are also various treasure hunts around the museum.
2. The Dallas Museum of Art. This free museum houses many great works of art and there is even a kid section where you can create your own masterpieces. It has so many different collections it is hard to see them all. I had a chance to check out the Mayan art and Modern art. Do you understand modern art? Because I certainly don’t!
3. The Nasher Sculpture Garden. This is a really cool place for children’s activities. I was given a children’s activity backpack. The backpack included a book about a sculptor whose art they were showcasing. He made sculptures out of broken and unused tools. The bag had some tools inside to make your own sculpture! Here is what I made:
4. The Perot Science Museum. This museum is the most interactive museum yet! It has many different floors and it has many learning games to play! There are a ton of things to do. One floor consisted of animals and special things that they do, another floor allowed you to design your own bird and another floor was dedicated to their closest relatives, Dinosaurs! Another post just about this museum coming soon.
5. Cracker Barrel. For some of you Cracker Barrel is not new to you, but for me, it’s quite novel! While I was in Dallas, I got to go to my first one! My yummy breakfast was a really good way to start my day! For those of you who aren’t allowed to bring toys to the table, there are toys on the table for you!
I hope if you go to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area you will have as much fun as I did!
