Fencing, the gentleman’s way of sword fighting. Some people might say that fencing is a well played game of chess. As some of you may know, fencing is part of my class curriculum, so when the fencing teacher said that his team was hosting a fencing tournament I was not too exited about it. But as the weeks before the tournament diminished, I noticed that I was becoming a good fencer at drills, and better at defending myself on the strip. (Strip in fencing is a long notable pathway where fencers duel, if you have seen some of the Harry Potter movies, it is like the long table where the fighting class begun and Harry, and Draco dueled) During practice, before the tournament, I could barely hold my ground against anyone, but as practice continued I found patterns in the way my friends acted, like just stab and stab and stab, but they didn’t defend their torso, so like any fencer would, I took advantage of that, so as my opponent was recovering from a poke I went in to get a few free points. When the fencing sign up time rolled around I decided I might be able to do this. The day of the first tournament arrived and I failed. In retrospect, I think I didn’t parry (block) enough and I faked too much. The second tournament was definitely my strongest day as I won most of the matches for my team. Everything seemed to be on. And the third day of the tournament, I think I didn’t do well because I got over confident and over zealous. There is the solemn story of my fencing experience! (for now)
